The Need For Maddie Projects – Because life does not stop with cancer.
Although life does not stop with diagnosis, harsh cancer treatments such as chemotherapy weaken immune systems. This means that our childhood cancer heroes are more susceptible to illness, and therefore during their inpatient hospital stays they are often unable to explore beyond the designated cancer floor.
As a result, patients cannot access the broader amenities and activities that their hospital may offer. That’s where we come in.
Through our Maddie Projects, Dancing While Cancering is dedicated to bringing joy to pediatric cancer hospital floors.
Maddie Projects fund all things fun!
Collaborating with our partner hospitals, we focus on projects that transform the hospital experience for pediatric cancer patients and bring a smile to their faces! Projects include providing funding for inpatient birthday parties, enhancing inpatient playroom spaces and hosting joy-filled events.
This past year, we partnered with the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago to make imaginative play an exciting reality. In their cancer floor playroom, patients can now experience Maddie’s Character Closet, which we helped stock with loads of brand new character figurines and toys that will bring playful experiences to the children for years to come.
Contact us if you would like to bring Maddie’s Character Closet, or other Maddie Projects, to a hospital near you.
